Presentation:
(2)64 oz unsweetened applesauce (or closest you can find to that size)
(2)4 oz Dannon non-fat plain yogurt
(2)3 oz concentrated calcium fortified orange juice, no water added
Old Fashioned Oats (NO QUICK COOKING OATS)
(2)1 T fresh ground flax seed or wheat germ, refrigerated
In bowl 1, mix together (1) 64 oz. unsweetened applesauce, (1) 4 oz. Dannon non-fat plain yogurt, (1) 3 oz. concentrated calcium fortified orange juice, (1) 1 T fresh ground flax seed or wheat germ.
In bowl 2, mix the ingredients the same as above.
To bowl 1 add 3 large scrambled eggs, no seasonings.
To bowl 2 add ¾ lbs of boiled chicken, no seasonings.
Divide each bowl in half so that you now have 4 bowls, 2 chicken bowls, and 2 egg bowls.
To bowl 1 add in 2 fresh chopped fruits, and 2 fresh chopped vegetables.
To bowl 2 add in 2 different fresh chopped fruits, and 2 different fresh chopped vegetables.
To bowl 3 add in 2 different fresh chopped fruits, and 2 different fresh chopped vegetables.
To bowl 4 add in 2 different fresh chopped fruits, and 2 different fresh chopped vegetables.
If you can’t find enough fresh vegetables so each bowl is different make sure to separate them out. For example you have only have 4 fruits put 2 of them in bowls 1 and 3, and the last two in bowls 2 and 4. This allows them for a variety each night. I would use at least ½ cup of each fresh fruit and vegetable.
Now, in addition to the fresh fruits and vegetables, add ¾ cups of mixed frozen veggies to each batch, and ¾ cup of chopped up mixed frozen fruit.
Mix everything together. If it is too thick add more applesauce, and then some oatmeal to thicken it up afterwards. If it is runny, add oatmeal until it becomes a consistency that you and your gliders like. It should be moist and not too pasty. Different fruits may have more juice than others, requiring a little more oatmeal. Going a little lighter on the oatmeal may help those gliders with weight problems.
Now pour the batches into ice cube trays. Once frozen put each bag into a freezer safe baggie, or freezer safe container.
Each glider will eat approximately 1 ½ cubes. If you notice they finish the food, give them extra until only a little bit is left over in the morning.
Make sure to alternate each night between batches, for variety.
