Treats!

We’ve talked about diet and bugs, but let’s talk about treats!

Sure they love the wet food recipe that you make for them, but that’s like eating the same food every single day. Healthy treats will add excitement to a glider’s overall daily diet, and provide an even deeper bond between you and your glider. Your suggies are your babies, so don’t spoil them with too many treats.

Treats should be fed in small quantities and only occasionally. If you’re using treats for bonding, only once a day amd very small piece at a time, up to 4 max.

Healthy and favorite treats include various fresh fruits, dehydrated fruits (we sell these on our website!), bugs (mealworms, dubia roaches etc.), pet safe yogurt drops, or small pieces of boiled eggs!

You can purchase most dried fruits at any organic or health food store. These will contain no added sugar, but you will have to cut them into very small pieces for your babies. Or you can make your own sugar glider safe treat! Fun activity for the kids, and you can control the ingredients. There are many recipes online that are sugar glider safe and 100% approved by other gliders!

My gliders favorite fruits include: mangoes, bananas, apple pears, oranges, jackfruit, watermelons, durian (yes, the smelly fruit), and mealworms of course!

Canned fruits, chocolate of any kind, and any type of candy is dangerous for gliders and should NOT be fed under any circumstances.

You can feed your suggies nuts, but only certain ones. The Pet Glider does not feed our gliders nuts.

Safe nuts: UNSALTED peanuts, pine nuts, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pistachios, pecans.

Do NOT feed your gliders any bird seed mixes.

The Pet Glider sells various treats on our website. All of our fruit treats are dehydrated fruit with no added sugars. Our yogurt drops are 100% pet safe, do not use baby yogurt drops as treats.
